Floods displace over 27,000 people in Myanmar's Bago

TEHRAN, Oct. 11 (MNA) – A total of 27,302 people in Bago of southern Myanmar have been taking shelter in 47 relief camps as of Tuesday evening due to floods triggered by surging river levels.

The water level of Bago River in Bago has been above its danger level since Sunday, Xinhua reported citing Myanmar's Department of Meteorology and Hydrology.

The water level of Bago River in Bago City on Tuesday was about four feet above its danger level, the weather bureau said, adding that it is expected to decrease about six inches in one day.

The rail trips running through Bago Region have been suspended since Sunday, a railway official said.

Rescue operations were underway.
