Iranian actor Kianian to perform in Fosse play

TEHRAN, Nov. 4 (MNA) – Popular Iranian actor Reza Kianian will perform in the latest play of famous Norwegian author Jon Fosse, the Persian service of Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA) reported here on Saturday.

The plays “Rambuku” and “Skuggar” are Fosse’s latest works in 2006 and the agency has not named the play Kianian is to perform in.

The play is being translated into Farsi by the Sweden-based Iranian director Mohammad Hamed, Kianian said.

Swedish actor Per Nordin will also perform Kianian’s opposite in the two-actor play, which is to be staged in 2007.

According to Kianian, the time and place of practices have not been announced yet.

He added the work will be put on performances in Farsi-Swedish languages.

“Each performer speaks in his native language. However, the audience will figure out what is going on the stage,” he explained.

Born in 1959 in Haugesund, Fosse is currently living in Bergen, Norway.

He debuted in 1983 with the novel “Raudt, Svart”. His first play “Og aldri skal vi skiljast” was performed and published in 1994.

Fosse has written novels, short stories, poetry, children's books, essays, and plays. His works have been translated into more than 40 languages.
