“It is the duty of all the devotees of Islam and the Islamic Revolution, especially the devout and intellectual youth, to make nonstop efforts to pursue the realization of the Islamic ruling system’s objectives, to bring the system closer to its principles, and to prevent any deviation,” Ayatollah Khamenei told a gathering of students who have graduated from European universities here on Sunday.
It is a heavy responsibility to distinguish right from wrong and to work for the right and counter the wrong, he added, saying, “In the modern world, where big challenges are rife, everybody should make efforts to introduce the true Islam and fulfill this heavy responsibility, avoiding deviation, petrifaction, dogmatism, and short-sightedness.”
Before the Islamic Revolution there were some organized attempts to prove that religion is in contrast to science and development, he stated.
“The Islamic associations at universities both inside and outside the country fought this type of ideology and proved that development and opening new horizons in life never runs contrary to being religious and having deep faith in religious values and principles,” the Leader said.
In Islamic ideology, making efforts to promote development and reaching for new horizons in science are considered values, he added.
