He made the remarks in the inaugural ceremony of Hemmat-Karaj Freeway on Tue. and added, “people will overcome difficulties and problems next year [to start March 21, 2020] as they experienced in the current year with their unity and amity.”
He seized this opportunity to express his special thanks to functionaries and engineers for the inauguration of this project.
He stated, “opening major freeway projects in the country displays the amount of development in our road construction industry and Iranian engineers' power.”
Parts of President Hassan Rouhani's speech at the ceremony is as follows, as reported by his office's website:
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I would like to thank all the people who have worked in the process of constructing this freeway. Phases 2 and 3 of the freeway that has just been opened had the progress of three percent when this government took office, and 97 percent of this project has been done during these six years.
This freeway is very important. For years, people who were traveling in this freeway used to see a sign telling them that the motorway had ended and they had to turn left and change the route.
God-willing, from the day after tomorrow, that means from Thursday, this route will be opened on people and the red sign will be removed, which will make the people of Tehran and Karaj happy.
We have to thank the people of Alborz Province. In general, we have opened three important projects in the recent three months, one of which was Hashtgerd Metro Station, the second one the Tehran-Shomal Freeway, which displays the Iranian construction industry's power, and the third one is this project which has been opened near the New Year.
Some of the seven important projects that they explained here will be opened in the year 1399 as well.
Given the spread of coronavirus in the country, I feel obliged to use every opportunity to thank the hard work of doctors and medical staff for fighting coronavirus in these days.
These hard days will pass and this grief will end, and God-willing, we will put these hard days behind us with the help of doctors and people.
This year, our body is far from holy shrines and we cannot make pilgrimage to them in person, but our souls get nearer to them every year.
God-willing, He will help us. Our people have always endured hard times and will put these hard days behind it.
I would like to thank the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the corporation that worked for building this road, the Governorate Generals of Alborz and Tehran Provinces and municipalities for carrying out this project.
I would also like to congratulate Nowruz to the entire Iranian nation, the people who are tired of these tough days of coronavirus outbreak, and wish them a happy new year.
