University of Tehran to honor Iranian pianist

TEHRAN, Jan. 8 (MNA) -- The University of Tehran plans to honor Iranian pianist Farimah Qavam Sadri with a concert at the Shahid Avini Hall of the Fine Arts Faculty on January 15.

 

The concert will be performed by the Musiqi-e No Orchestra conducted by Alireza Mashayekhi, Ehsan Khatibi, and Ali Radman.

 

Born in 1950 in Tehran, Qavam Sadri began her musical training at an early age under the supervision of renowned pianist Ophelia Kombajian and graduated with honors from the National Conservatory of Tehran, where she then began working as a professor.

 

She has also studied at the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris, Temple University in Philadelphia, and McGill University in Montreal. Qavam Sadri has given many performances in Iran, Europe, and the United States.

 

In 1993, Qavam Sadri and a number of other Iranian musicians founded the Tehran Music Group. She is the director and principal soloist of the Musiqi-e No Orchestra. She is also responsible for the arrangements of Mashayekhi’s piano compositions in his international concerts. Most of Mashayekhi’s works have been recorded by Qavam Sadri.
