Iran eyes increasing exports to neighbors: industry min.

TEHRAN, Nov. 27 (MNA) – Newly-appointed Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Reza Rahmani said that his ministry eyes promoting and increasing exports volume to neighboring countries.

Given the current unlawful economic sanctions, effective steps should be taken in line with supporting production sector significantly, he added.

Rahmani pointed to setting up three specialized working groups in the ministry in cooperation with relevant experts and said, “constructive viewpoints of both public and private sector activists coupled with effective executive strategies [in line with maintaining production chain, exports promotion, etc.] will be taken into consideration in these working groups, provided that these constructive viewpoints should secure the national interests.”

Turning to the production of some industrial and mineral products exceeding the domestic demand, he added, “proper strategies should be considered in the field of producing and exporting products such as steel, copper, aluminum, etc. which are manufactured more than the domestic demand.”

He also maintained that the country would witness a considerable growth in the industry sector once 10 important projects, including activation of small-sized mines, completion of chain of basic metals, strengthening of relations between university and industry and also paying due attention to the market of neighboring countries, become operational.
