Iran wins 3 medals at World Karate C’ships

TEHRAN, Nov. 10 (MNA) – Iranian karate practitioners bagged one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal on Saturday at the World Senior Karate Championships, in Spain.

In -75kg of men’s Kumite, Bahman Asgari outplayed Italy’s Luigi Busa 1-0 in the final bout. The 2018 Asian Games gold medalist had earlier won William Engman of Swede, Fali Li of China, Khazakhstan’s Yermek Ainazarov, and Senegal’s Abdourahmane Sene, Ken Nishimura of Japan, before winning Russian Beslan Mizov in the semifinal.

Sajjad Ganjzadeh, in men’s +84kg category, settled for silver after conceding a 2-5 defeat to Germany’s Jonathan Horne in the final contest.

Also, Zabiollah Poorshab won a bronze medal for Iran by overpowering Daniya Yuldashev of Kazakhstan in the 3rd place playoff.

24th edition of World Senior Championships has kicked off in Madrid, Spain on November 6 and it will wrap up today.
