Iranian karatekas bag two bronze medal at World C’ships

TEHRAN, Nov. 11 (MNA) – Iranian Karate practitioners collected two more bronze medals on Saturday at World Senior Karate Championships, underway in Spain.

In men’s -67kg category of kumite, Hamoon Derafshipour bagged a bronze after defeating Spain’s Raul Cuerva 6-3 in the third-place playoff. Steven Dacosta of France won the gold by defeating Brazil’s Vinicius Figueira 6-5 in the final contest. The other bronze of this category went to Chile’s Camilo Velozo.

Also, Sara Bahmanyar won a bronze medal for Iran by defeating Russia’s Tatiana Rybalchenko 5-0 in women’s -50kg category of kumite. Japan’s Miho Miyahara claimed the gold by overpowering Turkey’s Serap Ozcelik Arapoglu. Austeria’s Bettina Plank was also awarded with a bronze medal in this category.

24th edition of World Senior Championships has kicked off in Madrid, Spain on November 6 and it will wrap up today. More than 1100 practitioners from 140 different countries are participating in the event.

Earlier Iranians gained one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal.
