FM Zarif holds separate meetings with Turkish, Azeri counterparts

TEHRAN, Oct. 30 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has held separate meetings with Turkey’s Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, and Azerbaijan’s Elmar Mammadyarov in Istanbul.

Foreign Minister Zarif arrived in Istanbul to attend the 6th trilateral meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey, Republic of Azerbaijan and Islamic Republic of Iran.

The bilateral meetings with Turkish and Azeri counterparts took place before the trilateral meeting, which has taken place to discuss regional issues and enhancing their future cooperation.

Bilateral relations, regional issues and issues related to the Islamic world were the focus of Zarif’s meetings with Çavuşoğlu and Mammadyarov.

The Iranian foreign minister also took part in the opening ceremony of a new airport in Istanbul yesterday.

Upon arrival in Atatuk airport, Zarif told reporters “the trilateral meetings is aimed at expanding economic, transit and intellectual cooperation between the three countries.”

He will attend the trilateral meeting of the three foreign ministers later today.
