Pres. Rouhani felicitates Niger on Independence Day

TEHRAN, Aug. 04 (MNA) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani congratulated his Nigerien counterpart Mahamadou Issoufou on the Independence Day.

In a message cabled on Saturday, Rouhani offerred felicitations to the Negerien nation and government on the occasion of their Independence Day, and expressed hope that ties between Tehran and Abuja would further develop.

"I extend congratulations to Your Excellency and Nigerien nation, as you celebrate 58th Independence Day," Rouhani addressed Mahamadou Issoufou in his message.

He also hoped that ties between the two countries would further develop in all fields of mutual interest under the will of the two countries’ authorities.

I wish Your Excellency continued health, happiness and every success, as well as the well-being and prosperity of all the people of Niger.

Independence Day in the Republic of Niger is commemorated on August 3, marking the nation's independence from France in 1960. Since 1975, it is also Arbor Day, as trees are planted across the nation to aid the fight against desertification.
