Zarif censures US ‘toxic unilateralism’ on JCPOA 3rd anniv.

TEHRAN, Jul. 15 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has censured the “toxic unilateralism” of the Trump’s administration as the 2015 Iran nuclear deal enters its third year without US as a signatory.

“On 3rd anniversary of JCPOA, it remains a triumph of multilateral diplomacy despite US actions,” wrote FM Zarif in a tweet on Saturday.

“While we knew US can't be trusted to keep its word—as its allies have now discovered—JCPOA proves that toxic unilateralism of Trump Admin[istration] means it can’t be relied on to honor any deal,” he added.

The US president announced on May 8 that Washington was withdrawing from the nuclear agreement that was signed with six other countries on 14 July 2015, and that he plans to reinstate US nuclear sanctions and "the highest level" of economic bans on Iran. The move came under international criticism, with European countries scrambling to ensure that Iran’s economic interests would continue to be met despite US sanctions.
