Tehran, Kabul seek increased security coop.

TEHRAN, Jul. 13 (MNA) – The third session of the committee of defense-security cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan was held on Friday in Tehran where high-ranking officials of the two countries discussed ways to boost bilateral ties.

Iranian deputy foreign minister Abbas Araghchi and national security advisor to Afghanistan President Yama Karzai headed their countries’ delegations in this meeting.

The two sides talked about security issues in the region and discussed ways to bolster ties for facing present threats, especially that of terrorism and drugs.

Both countries highlighted the need to enhance teamwork between responsible security organizations for border controls and fight against terrorism, drug trafficking, and organized crimes.
