Ghasemi says Japan PM’s visit to Iran not on agenda

TEHRAN, Jul. 04 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ghasemi dismissed claims in some Japanese media that Japan’s prime minister’s visit to Iran has been canceled, saying such a visit has never been on agenda in the first place.

To Mehr News correspondent’s question about the claims in some Japanese news outlets about the cancelation of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s upcoming visit to Iran, Bahram Ghasemi said no talks or plans have been made for such a visit, dismissing the claims as completely false.

The foreign ministry spokesman deemed Iran-Japan’s relations as friendly and long-standing, adding “we welcome expansion of ties with Japan, as our old friend and partner, at all levels, but no visit is on agenda in the foreseeable future.”
