Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a series of tweets on Thursday called Washington out on its fake sympathy for the Iranian nation, saying “US changed one elected government in Iran in 1953. It has tried a repeat since 79. Iranians [are] not fooled by US game and unmoved by fake sympathy.”
“Faux sympathy for Iranians belied by Trump’s use of fake name for Persian Gulf, calling them terrorist nation and banning them from visiting,” Zarif named the instances in which the US measures had directly targeted the Iranian people.
He went on to add, “lose the ‘standing with the Iranian people’ mantra. They elected their president with 6 million more popular votes and 73% turnout. Compare?”
