Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Ghasemi responded to a question about a certain note recently published in one of the news media, and confirmed that the US President Donald Trump had made a request for a meeting with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on the sidelines of the recent UN General Assembly in New York.
“The American side had voiced an inclination for such a visit, but President Rouhani had declined the request,” he added.
He went on to dismiss other speculations mentioned in the note, adding “all speculations about other individuals, particularly the one about the measures by French President Emanuel Macron, are completely false and cannot be confirmed.”
