“We welcome any opportunity to meet our friends of resistance groups, especially Hamas,” said Iran’s Leader Aide, Ali Akbar Velayati in his meeting with Hamas’s Deputy Political Chief Saleh el-Arouri, on Saturday in Tehran.
Mr. Velayati who also acts as the Head of Strategic Research Center of Iran’s Expediency Council told the Palestinian official that he admired Hamas for taking a stance which was deemed appropriate by him. Velayti also hailed Hamas officials for saying that they would never lay down arms, and laying down arms was the red line for Hamas.
He also talked about the Iraqi Kurdistan region's referendum, saying the majority of Kurds are against separation from Iraq; "we all saw that those supporting the split held the referendum under the Israeli flag, which indicates the KRG's overt relations with Israel in splitting Iraq.
Velayati further voiced confidence that the Americans too would fail in their attempts at dividing Syria.
The Palestinian official, in this meeting, for his part, described Iranian authorities as members of Palestinian resistance and added that it is a must for Palestinians to regularly meet with Iranian officials and brief them about the latest developments in Palestine. “In this meeting I feel at home between my family members and brothers,” reassured Mr. el-Arouri.
“I am sure that the issue of Palestine matters to Iran and Iran is always shoring up endeavors for the interests of the Palestinian nation and the cause of holy Quds, because Iran is the main supporter of resistance in Palestine,” reiterated the Hamas official.
