Ballyhoo at the Wedding directed by Seyed Reza Khatibi, Houra by Gholamreza Sagharchian, The Pearl by Sirous Hassanzadeh as well as Soyuq by Ark brothers, Bahram and Bahman, are the four feature films to represent Iran at the 2017 edition of ICCFF.
Produced by the Farabi Cinematic Foundation, Ballyhoo at the Wedding recounts the story of a wedding ceremony where children are not allowed to attend, so they are sent to a cottage at the end of the garden. During the wedding, children realized that the organizers of the event are drug traffickers and decide to disrupt the ceremony.
Houra narrates the story of a rural teenage boy, Hadi, who lives with his family in the desert margins in Tehran-Mashhad railroad track. Hadi tries to keep alive a garden, which is the only legacy of his mother's past.
Recounting the story of a part of Iran society's children and their parents’ problems, Soyuq is about a family who have to change their home due to economic problems and their 8 years old son faces problems due to his stress.
The Pearl chronicles the life of a pearl hunter, Karim, who is living in a little town of southern Iran. Karim who suffers from heart trouble, finds out that he needs an urgent surgery for the disease but he cannot afford it. His two children think that they have to grow up sooner than expected time to help their dad.
The International Istanbul Children's Film Festival (IICFF), which had its first screening for children in October 2003, offers the audience examples of World Children's Cinema and children's films.
IICFF aims to bring children closer to culture and art and takes an important step in creating the cinema audience of the future.
