Iran condemns London terror attacks

TEHRAN, Jun. 04 (MNA) – FM spokesman, while slamming recent terrorist attacks in London, said terrorism could be uprooted only if all countries honestly and responsibly join the global wave against violence and extremism.

Spokesman of Foreign Ministry of Iran Bahram Ghasemi, condemned the terrorist attacks which took place in London on Saturday evening and expressed sympathy towards families of the victims asserting “escalation of indiscriminate and chain terror attacks around the world is a warning sign for the international community.”

He said, in order to secure the world against the current unbridled and ruthless terrorism, some countries had to quit negligence and ignore short-term political, economic and seemingly strategic interests. “In order to uproot terrorism, financial and intellectual resources of violence and extremism need to be dealt with; sources and roots which are clear and known to all.”

Foreign Ministry spokesman reiterated that what the Islamic Republic of Iran has always emphasized on as regards roots of terrorism and extremism is not a mere recommendation or a political position but a vital and urgent ‘compulsion’ and ‘necessity’ for general security of world.

Sooner or later, those who failed to see the reality due to tactical mistakes or their short-term interests, will gain the awareness in the new and rising conditions of the terrifying menace which kills people all over the world.

At the end of his remarks, Ghasemi reaffirmed that terrorism, in all shapes and sizes and with any purpose and motivation, was condemned and rejected underlining “the only way out of the ominous threat is to join the global wave against violence and extremism without double standards.”
