Zarif also extended his condolences over death of Iranian border guards martyred in a recent clash with terrorists in the city of Mirjaveh in Iran’s southeastern province of Sistan-Baluchestan in his message.
He added ” I extend my condolences over the sorrowing martyrdom of a group of brave border guards, the innocent sons of the nation, by some armed outlaws.”
Head of Strategic Research Center, Ali Akbar Velayati, also cabled a message on Thursday to condole on the martyrdom of border guards noting that Islamic Republic is at the center of a turmoil region, the stabilit of which is targetted by enemies who are seeking their evil aims; "yet Iran is safe and stable thanks to sacrifice of such brave men whose name would be engraved in the history," reads part of his message.
On Wednesday (April 26) evening, nine Iranian border guards were martyred during an attack by terrorists.
They were reportedly killed while patrolling in the city of Mirjaveh, located 75 km east of the provincial capital city of Zahedan.
