Iran, Tajikistan maintain strategic relations

TEHRAN, Mar. 06 (MNA) – Chairman of the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security of Iran Alaeddin Boroujerdi has said Tehran and Dushanbe have strategic relationship based on strengthening and consolidating cooperation.

Boroujerdi made the remarks in a meeting with Tajikistan Ambassador to Tehran Nematollah Imamzadeh.

The relations between Iran and Tajikistan are of strategic nature, based on strengthening and consolidating cooperation between the two countries, Boroujerdi noted, pointing to the records of the historical relations between Iran and Tajikistan.

He pointed out the commonalities between the two countries including in cultural fields, and said Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security of the Parliament supports any move to make use of the capacities and to strengthen bilateral relations.

Senior MP, emphasizing the importance of political visits between the officials of the two countries, underlined that deep cultural and civilizational links between the two countries require more consultations between the high-ranking officials of Iran and Tajikistan.

Tajik ambassador, for his part, congratulating the twenty-fifth anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, announced his country’s readiness to expand cooperation with Islamic Republic.

“Tajikistan and Iran enjoy enormous potentials and capacities to be used for the interests of the two nations,” he noted.

Tajik official expressed pleasure with the parliamentary visits and meetings, welcoming the expansion of ties in order to create peace and stability in the region.
