On the third day of his visit to Pakistani capital city of Islamabad, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the chairperson of Iranian Parliament's Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security, told his Pakistani counterpart Ahmad Khan Leghari, on Friday, that “relations with Pakistan matters a lot to the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the two countries have proved to be each other’s friend in need.”
Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari is the Member of Pakistani National Assembly from the constituency of Dera Ghazi Khan and serving as the Chairperson of the Standing Committee of National Assembly on Foreign Affairs.
Mr. Boroujerdi told his Pakistani counterpart that the necessity of enhancing bilateral ties of Iran and Pakistan to the highest and best level is an issue that deservedly fits both nations and governments of Iran and Pakistan. He called for more interaction and visit by the senior officials of the two countries to accomplish the goal.
“The issue of Palestine is undoubtedly the most serious issue of the Islamic world and it is a pity that some Muslim countries improve their relations with the Zionist regime and cut their ties with their fellow Muslim countries,” asserted the Iranian MP after delivering the official invitation of Ali Larijani for Tehran conference on Palestine to Mr. Leghari.
He also said that Iran is eager to see Iran-Pakistan gas line completed and tapped in a short time to let Pakistanis enjoy the benefits of the project.
“We are ready to hold talks on bilateral cooperation between Gwadar Port of Pakistan and Chabahar Port of Iran,” said the Iranian MP touching upon the neighboring ports which locate on opposite sides of the borderline. “I am willing to visit Chabahar Port, along with some of my MP colleagues, and from there move toward Gwadar Port and visit the Pakistani border, as a sign of our honesty and sincerity in the matter of cooperation between the two ports.”
Mr. Leghari, in this meeting, for his part, voiced the eagerness and serious determination of Pakistan to complete the gas line and described the two ports of Gwadar and Chabahar as complementary ports.
“I welcome Iran’s proposal to mediate between Islamabad and New Delhi,” articulated the Pakistani MP. “However, I call for unity among all countries of the region, Persian Gulf states, and Muslims to minimize the tensions and create a concordance which benefits the whole Islamic world.”
