Condolences are continuously sent to Iranian officials after the demise of Ayatollah Hashemi Rafsanjani, a veteran figure of the Islamic revolution of 1979 who served as the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament for 9 years, as the President of the Islamic Republic for 2 terms, and as the Chairman of the Expediency Council till his death.
The Palestinian government’s embassy to Tehran issued a letter of condolences on Thursday offering “heartfelt condolences” for the loss of the late Ayatollah, underlining that the death of Hashemi touched the emotions of all Palestinians as they have lost a big supporter. The message also extends condolences to the Leader of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei, to wife of Hashemi, Effat Mar’ashi and to Ayatollah’s children and brothers.
Goh Chok Tong, the former Prime Minister (1990-2004) and Senior Minister (2004-2011) of Singapore, sent a message of condolences to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Friday. Since 2011, Mr. Tong has been serving as a senior advisor to the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). In his message, Mr. Tong described the late Ayatollah as “a prominent politician who contributed greatly to the expansion of Iran-Singapore relations.”
The official book of condolences for the death of Ayatollah Hashemi opened in Iran’s embassy to Vietnam’s Hanoi was signed by 45 of Vietnamese politicians and diplomats of the world residing in Vietnam.
Iran’s embassy to Beirut has also been hosting a tribute ceremony to the late Ayatollah for three consecutive days.
Zarif’s Malayasian counterpart also sent a message to Iranian Foreign Minister extending deep condolences over the loss of the late Ayatollah.
During the two days on which Iran’s embassy to Moscow let visitors sign the official book of condolences for the death of Ayatollah Hashemi, diplomats from more than 50 countries, who resided in Moscow, paid their tribute to the former president of Iran.
In Bangkok, the Thai Deputy Foreign Minister attended Iran’s embassy to Thailand and signed the book of condolences on behalf of the Thai Prime Minister, Prayut Chan-o-cha.
