UN envoy dismisses Israel’s accusations as 'epitome of hypocrisy'

TEHRAN, Nov. 23 (MNA) – Iran’s Ambassador to UN in a letter to Ban Ki-moon said a regime guilty of crimes and occupation is not in a position to level false accusations against other nations including Iran.

“The representative of the Zionist regime has claimed to have presented new information to the Security Council, while these remarks are nothing more than the repetitive, groundless and full-on lies that the regime keeps leveling against Iran,” Iran’s Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Gholamhossein Dehghani, said in his letter addressed to the UN chief Ban Ki-moon.

Dehghani went on to note that voicing ‘mass accusations’ against Iran about violation of several resolutions of the Security Council by a regime that is itself guilty of mocking all the resolutions of the General Assembly and the SC during its decades-long occupation is ‘quite a hilarious story’.

“I also find it quite ridiculous and hypocritical that the representative of a regime that has deprived Palestinian people from their basic human rights for several decades, accuses Iran every once in a while of violating the international law,” he said.

Dehghani stressed that Israel’s accusing Iran of supporting terrorism is the ‘epitome of demagogy and hypocrisy’.

“The aim of the Zionist regime by voicing such baseless accusations against other countries is in fact to cover up its own crimes against the innocent Palestinian citizens and distract the public attention from the continuation of the blockade of two million people in the past ten years in Gaza, the bombardment of residential areas, schools and hospitals in occupied territories, and the destruction of Palestinians’ houses and desecration of holy sites,” he concluded.
