Cheetahs rout Papua New Guinea in a friendly match

TEHRAN, Nov. 11 (MNA) – In a friendly match before the game against Syria in Asia’s qualifications for Russia 2018 FIFA, Team Melli defeated Papua New Guinea 8-1 on Thursday.

In a friendly match against Papua New Guinea on Thursday, the national Iranian football team known as Team Melli thrashed their Oceanian rival 8-1 before their event against Syria in Group A of Asia’s qualifying campaign for Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup which is to be held on Tuesday November 15, 2016.

Reza Ghoochannejhad scored his first hat-trick for the Cheetahs to rack up 17 national goals while Ramin Rezaian headed in the last goal of the event. Karim Ansarifard scored twice in the event while Dejagah and Taromi were the other scorers of the match.   

In the first half, Sosha Makani kept the goal for Iran and in the second half, Mohammadreza Akhbari stood in the goal and conceded the sole goal of Papua New Guinea.
