President of Sri Lanka, Maithripala Sirisena, is scheduled for a visit to Tehran late November or early December, while President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, will visit Iran in January 2017. According to some reports, presidents of Finland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Venezuela are also scheduled for a trip to Tehran during autumn or winter.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro will arrive in Tehran on Sunday, October 23, to review the most important energy market developments with his Iranian counterpart.
Iranian President Hassan Rouhani visited Indonesia on April 21 to attend the 60th Asian-African Conference (AAC). Shinzo Abe, the Japanese prime minister, and Widodo were among the senior figures the Iranian president met on the sidelines of the ceremony. Rouhani also met with his Sri Lankan counterpart on the sidelines of the second Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) summit in October in Thailand.
In total, the Iranian president and foreign minister have had 66 visits to Asian countries in the last three years, while premiers from nine commonwealth countries, six West Asian countries and four East Asian countries visited Iran.
President Rouhani is also planning to visit Armenia and Kyrgyzstan in the upcoming months.
