Jujube syrup for treating diabetes, high blood pressure

TEHRAN, Oct. 17 (MNA) – Iranian researchers have produced jujube syrup that has health benefits for blood detoxification and is also effective on patients with diabetes and high blood pressure.

Leyla Mohammadtaghizadeh, head of a traditional medicine team at a knowledge-based company, told Mehr News that her team has been working on the production of a jujube syrup for three years. According to her, the syrup contains jujube, also known as red date, and thyme.

“The syrup is very effective for blood detoxification, metabolic syndrome, abdominal obesity, diabetes, and high blood pressure,” she said.

She went on to add that the syrup can also help with fatty liver disease and reducing blood viscosity.

“Blood concentration is associated with several factors such as high blood pressure, VLDL, LDL and Total cholesterols, triglycerides, chylomicrons, as well as diabetes and insulin resistance,” she said. “The jujube syrup can affect these factors and lower blood concentration.”

She stressed that the syrup is devoid of sugar and has entered Iranian markets; “we are currently looking for suitable foreign markets to export the product,” she said.

According to her, the syrup should be consumed in 2 tablespoons three times a day, but is contraindicated during pregnancy and lactation.
