Iran’s four athlete squad of foil fencers grabbed a gold and a bronze medal at 2016 Asian Masters / Oceania Veterans Fencing Championship held at the venue of Ellie Eaton Pavilion in the Australian city of Perth.
Alireza Kahrizi, the third pool of foil fencers and came from behind to edge Ambrose Ng from Hong Kong at the round of 16, Australia’s Davide Wheeler at quarterfinals, Wing Keung Lee from Hong Kong at semi-finals, and Andrey Tyshchenko from Austalia at the final bout of the competition to grab the gold medal.
Kahrizi’s compatriot, Mohammad Mirzaei Amjad ended second at the second pool of the event and defeating, Bing Chi Patrick Wu from Hong Kong at the round of 16, beating Siu Kwan Wai from Hong Kong at the quarterfinals, and losing to Andrey Tyshchenko of Australia at the semifinal won the bronze medal jointly with Wing Keung Lee from Hong Kong.
Ramin Dehnavi and Mohammad Eghrarisalot were the other members of Iran’s men foil fencers at the competition.
