According to the latest monthly rankings of FIFA released on August 11, the national Iranian men’s soccer team racked up 674 points and still stood above other Asian teams according to the announcement of the Football Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Carlos Queiroz’s men, nestling in the world’s 39th spot, stand above teams like Sweden, Paraguay, and Denmark who are slotted at 40th, 42nd, and 44th positions respectively.
In Asia, Taegeuk Warriors, as the South Korean national team is called, are 65 points adrift of Iran’s Team Melli, to sit 2nd in the AFC ranking after Iran, with, Samurai Blues, Japan, Aussies and al-Suqours, Saudi Arabia, trailing respectively.
Argentina remains the top-ranked soccer team in the world with 1,585 points and Belgium, Colombia, Germany and Chile are respectively sitting 2nd to 5th.
