Zarif, Nigerian FM stress expansion of ties

AJUBA, Jul. 25 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held talks on expansion of ties with his Nigerian counterpart in Abuja on Monday.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is in Nigeria along with an economic-political delegation as the first leg in his 6-day tour to Africa, held talks with his Nigerian counterpart Geoffrey Onyeama in Ajuba on Monday.

During the meeting, the two sides conferred on measures on how to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various economic and political fields and exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern and interest.

Zarif is scheduled to meet with Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, Speaker of the House Yakubu Dogara, and attend a Joint Economic Commission’s meeting with participation of Iranian and Nigerian delegations. He will then depart for Ghana as the second leg of his African tour. Guinea Conakry and Mali will be his next destinations.
