Serbians leave Istanbul for Tehran after 2-day delay

TEHRAN, Jun. 30 (MNA) – Serbian squad of volleyball got to Imam Khomeini International Airport of Tehran early on Thursday to play at the third week of the 2016 FIVB World League.

The Serbia National Volleyball Team who got stuck in Istanbul after the terrorist attacks at the international airport of the city arrived finally at Imam Khomeini International Airport of Tehran early on Thursday.

The Serbians were scheduled to arrive in Tehran on Tuesday but after Istanbul's main airport, Atatürk international airport, was hit by a gun and suicide bomb attack on Tuesday evening, the Serbians who were in the city were forced to stay in for a safer occasion to use the Turkish airport.

A week earlier on June 25, 2016, Serbians won their Group 1 sixth victory defeating Iran 3-1 at home in Belgrade at an event officiated by Belgian Arturo Di Giacomo and American Paul Albright.
