The 17th edition of Asian Junior Athletics Championships was competed in Ho Chi Minh City of Vietnam from June 3-6 with the Japanese team winning the title.
Japan stood on top of the podium with a total of 13 gold, 10 silver and 4 bronze medals while Chinese athletes finished runner-up having snatched 11 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze medals.
Meanwhile, India received the third title for scooping 7 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze medals.
The Iranian squad, however, received two silver and one bronze medal to land 13th overall.
Iranian medal winners were Amin Lotfollahi and Mehdi Rostami who won silver and bronze of shut put events, respectively.
Also, Ata Asadi bagged a silver medal for the Iranian outfit at the 1,500-metre run event.
Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Qatar, Iraq, South Korea, North Korea and Kazakhstan finished 4th to 12th at the Asian meet, respectively.
The Asian tourney had attracted 700 young athletes and coaches from 40 countries and territories worldwide, including Qatar, Japan, China, Iraq, Republic of Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Iran, competing in 22 categories at Thong Nhat Stadium in Vietnam.
