Amin Arefnia, Director of the National Library and Archives of Iran (NLAI), said Beautiful Iran' exhibition of cultural, natural and documented heritage of Iran will convene in the National Library of China from June 6 to 16.
“NLAI Head Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri, leading an Iranian delegation, will travel to Beijing on June 6 at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart in order to open the exposition which has been organized and stablished in one of the main halls of the National Library of China in partnership with the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization and in collaboration with the Chinese library manufacturer,” he added.
Arefnia went on to underline that “during his visit to Beijing, NLAI head is slated to meet several Chinese officials including the East Asian culture minister in order to seek venues for expansion of cultural and media ties between the two countries.”
The official further emphasized that “national libraries of the two countries have already inked cooperation agreement and run constructive cooperation in the field of exchange of resources and expert panels.”
“Unfortunately, exchange of historical documents between the two sides has not been possible so far,” highlighted Arefinia expressing hope that an MoU will be sealed between NLAI and State Archives Administration of China in order to take effective steps in this regard.”
The National Library of China (NLC) in Beijing, as the national library of the People's Republic of China, is the largest library in Asia and one of the largest in the world with a collection of over 33,78 million items where holds the largest collections of Chinese literature and historical documents in the world.
Photo exhibition 'Beautiful China' sponsored by State Council Information Office of China had been previously held in National Library and Archives of Iran in Tehran on January 22, 2016.
