TEHRAN, May 20 (MNA) – Visiting Iranian Deputy FM Araghchi who is visiting Japan met with Kōmura, the current Vice-President of the ruling Japanese Liberal Democratic Party, in Tokyo on Friday.

“When I was in Tokyo [as the ambassador of the Islamic republic of Iran to Japan], I had a lot of meetings with Japanese politicians, especially Mr. Kōmura who is a very experienced politician and is very knowledgeable about the Middle East,” said Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs in a meeting with Parliamentary Friendship Association of Japan headed by Masahiko Kōmura, the current Vice-President of the ruling Japanese Liberal Democratic Party in Tokyo on Friday.

During the meeting, Masahiko Kōmura warmly welcomed the Iranian diplomat and hailed his effective role in the course of Iran and 5+1 negotiations in Vienna.

“I firmly hold that the win-win approach undertaken in Iran-Sextet talks which fruited successfully can be implemented in dealing with other regional crises in Syria, Yemen, and Iraq,” highlighted the Iranian senior diplomat.

Araghchi referred to the good history of Iran-Japan ties and listed transportation, energy, and environmental issues as the areas of capacity and importance for bilateral cooperation.

“At the present moment, the anti-Iran sanctions have been totally removed and Iran’s economy has entered a new era promising higher place of Iran in the international community and the economy of the world,” reiterated the former Iranian ambassador to Tokyo.

The veteran diplomat boasted that 6 head of states visited Tehran in the last 4 months and ‘the ceaseless visit of foreigners, whether European politicians or international businesspeople, to Tehran to sign MoUs and contracts prove how Iran’s position has heightened in the region.’

Referring to the visits of Japan's Foreign Minister, Fumio Kishida, Japan's State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Daishiro Yamagiwa, and Japanese business and trade delegations in the past year, Araghchi voiced hope that the eminent visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzu Abe will strengthen the bilateral ties and expand the areas of cooperation.
