Iranian docu. to vie in England's Derby filmfest.

TEHRAN, Apr. 18 (MNA) – ‘I Want to Be a King’, directed by Mehdi Ganji, will represent Iran in the 3rd Derby Film Festival in the UK, which will kick off on April 29.

Mehdi Ganji’s 70-hour long documentary will be screened in the completion section of the 3rd Derby Film Festival, along with other films from China, US, Brazil, Sweden, France, Finland, Turkey and Japan.

Ganji’s production narrates the story of a man named Abbas who has created a successful guest house in a nomadic area of Iran where he welcomes tourists from around the world. He is not satisfied with this though and dreams of founding a new tribe of which he would be the sovereign.

‘I Want to Be a King’ has as so far received many awards in different international film festivals including the 33rd Fajr International Film Festival, International Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam, Millennium International Documentary Film Festival (Belgium) and Zurich Film Festival.

The ten-day event with the theme of Journeys will run from April 29 to May 8, 2016 in the city of Derby in England.
