Russia rejects 'Plan B' for Syria

MOSCOW, Mar. 01 (MNA) – Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergei Ryabkov, alerted Monday about dishonest purposes implicit in the media avalanche around the vilified "Plan B" for Syria, contrary to expectation of peace, after almost 5 years of war.

In comments to the press, Ryabkov said permanent gossip trying to legitimize an alternative plan to a peaceful settlement of the Syrian conflict, is dishonest and unfair play, with the deliberate purpose of subverting the process going.

We tacitly refute the approach of "Plan B" itself, said Deputy Foreign Affairs by underlining that it is clear the objective of those engaged in spread such rumors.

Ryabkov declared that immediately after entering into force the regime ceasefire in Syria, just over 48 hours ago, they began the media attacks, including anonymous information about alleged violations of the truce by the authorities of Damascus and the Russian side.

The conditions for an armistice were agreed just a week ago by the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin and Barack Obama. The document states that are excluded from the truce the ISIL and related terrorist groups like al-Nusra Front.

Ryabkov said that the first informative avalanche about the controversial plan,(conceived by US and allies) came from Washington, accompanied by the harangues of war in US military circles.

Shortly before leaving for Algeria on a working visit, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that "there were not, and there will not be reserve plans" alternative to the truce and the peace process in Syria.

Moscow also distanced itself from the US stance, that excludes the legitimate president Bashar Al Assad of the political settlement process in his country, while endorsed the exclusive right of the Syrians to decide the future of the Levantine nation."

We regret the constant signals that are emitted from Washington contrary to a place for Assad in the transition. We believe that this place should be determined by the Syrian people", Ryabkov said during a press conference.
