Petrochimi reaches final of 2016 WABA tournament

TEHRAN, Feb. 22 (MNA) – Iran’s Petrochimi basketball team subdued the Lebanese rival securing a place in the final of the West Asian Clubs Championship.

Iran’s Petrochimi Bandar Imam Basketball Club faced Champville SC of Lebanon at the semifinal of the 16th West Asian Clubs Championship underway in Jordan.

The Iranian team got the better of Champville in all four quarters of the match on route to the final encounter.

In the other semifinal meeting, Iran’s Azad University team will play against Al Riyadi of Lebanon while the winner will face Petrochimi in the final match to be held on Moday.

The WABA Champions Cup, between 2011 and 2012 known as the West Asian Basketball League (WABL), is the West Asian club championship for basketball organized by West Asia Basketball Association, and takes place every year; it also serves as a qualifying tournament for the FIBA Asia Champions Cup.
