Red giants of Tehran swap win for draw

TEHRAN, Feb. 19 (MNA) – The 21st round of Iran’s IPL got into gear on Thursday with three fixtures which two of them ended 1-1.

The red giants of Tehran surrendered a listless one-goal lead before snatching another winner to get closer to the top of the table on Thursday at Azadi Stadium of Tehran were Saipa equalized seconds before the final whistle of the match blown.

Saipa leveled through Mehdi Daghagheleh at the 1st minute of the injury-time while the 70,000-packed-stadium of the red fans were sure they had snatched the three points.

Persepolis’s Honduran forward Jerry Bengtson was shown a red card at the 87th minute of the match. The referee sent off Bengtson after he was shown a second yellow card.

The event kicked off at 04:00 pm local time and just ten minutes into match Ahmad Nourollahi scored for the hosts.

In the other events of the 21 round of Iran’s Persian Gulf Premier League of Professional Soccer, AKA IPL, Tractorsazi of Tabriz edge passed Sepahan of Isfahan 2-1, and Zowbahan drew 1-1 with Foulad of Khuzestan.

The 21 round will be wrapped up with 5 other matches on Friday.
