Three national karateka miss medals at Karate1 league

TEHRAN, Jan. 24 (MNA) – Three Iranian karate practitioners lost their chances at the 2016 WKF Karate1 Premier League.

Attended by 1012 athletes from 74 countries, Karate1 WKF Premier League kicked off in Paris on January 22nd while Iran’s only woman practitioner Fatemeh Sadeghi failed to bag medals.

On the second day of the competitions, three other Iranian karatekas were pulled out of the race.

Amir Mahdizadeh in -60kg weight category subdued three French rivals in a row but had to concede a defeat against the Italian athlete who was downed in his following match perishing Mahdizadeh’s hopes of claiming a medal.

In the -75kg, Bahman Asgari breezed past the Portuguese rival in the first round but failed to overthrow the Danish athlete who, in turn, was subdued in the next round leading to Asgari’s withdrawal from the tournament.

Iran’s other representative in -75kg, Amir Hossein Kalhori, had the same faith as his teammate and finished the event without a medal.

France’s Karate1 tournament will wrap up today January 24.
