Iran sabre team fails to reach finals

TEHRAN, Dec. 14 (MNA) – The three-member Iranian men’s sabra squad failed to reach the Table of 16 of 2015 Boston Sabre Grand Prix.

Iran’s outfit at the Absolute Fencing Gear FIE Grand Prix Boston consisted of Mojtaba Abedini, Ali Pakdaman and Mohammad Rahbari.

Having reached the Table of 32 after winning over the Russian fencer Ilya Motorin 15-13, Iran’s Mojtaba Abedini conceded a defeat against Alexy Yakimenko of Russia 11-15.

The other Iranian representative, Ali Pakdaman lost to the Hungarian fencer 15-13 and finished 48th in the event.

The Iranian fencer Mohammad Rahbari also failed to overcome the Italian rival Massimiliano Murolo to rank 41st in the Grand Prix.

Attracting 162 fencers from 48 countries, 2015 Boston Sabre Grand Prix saw only 14 countries in its Table of 32.

The two-day tournament was held at Harvard University's Gordon Indoor Track, Boston, the US on Dec. 12-13 with Aldo Montano of Italy winning the title, Hungary’s Aron Szilagyi finishing second followed by two German and Romanian representatives who jointly ranked third.
