ISIL to lose last base in Iraq with liberation of Mosul

TEHRAN, Jan. 24 (MNA) – Senior adviser to Leader Ali Akbar Velayati while comparing Iraq’s Mosul to Syria’s Aleppo, said if Mosul is liberated, ISIL terrorists will lose their last base in Iraq.

Ali Akbar Velayati made the remark in a meeting with a number of Yazidi members of parliament, personalities and intellectuals of Iraq which was held on Tuesday afternoon in Tehran.

“We are truly sorry for what ISIL has done to you and firmly believe that the damages and losses dealt against you must be compensated as soon as possible,” he said during the meeting.

He went on to add, “we will not spare any efforts in helping you and the fact that you are fighting alongside the People's Mobilization Forces of Iraq against ISIL is admirable because the PMF is completely serious in its fight against enemies of Iraq.”

Velayati then stressed Iran’s support for the preservation of Iraq’s territorial integrity and prevention of its partitioning.

“The majority of Iraqi nation and government are supporters of Yazidis,” he stressed.

Velayati further expressed hope that Mosul would soon be liberated from terrorism, adding “there is no more any possibility for Iraq’s enemies to achieve their non-military goals. Their failure is definitive.”
