Iran, Italy to jointly produce 2 million vehicles

TEHRAN, Nov. 29 (MNA) – A visiting Italian official has announced his country’s plan to produce two million Iranian-Italian vehicles.

Attending the big Iran-Italy business conference in Tehran, Head of General Confederation of Italian Industry’s Technical Committee for Internationalization and Foreign Investors Licia Mattioli referred to the Iranian President’s trip to Italy adding “Iran holds a significant position in the Italian industrial system and we hope that President Rouhani’s trip to Italy, which was cancelled due to the recent terrorist attacks in France, will take place in near future.”

“Italy plans to run major industrial and commercial missions in Iran and to provide the possibility of expanding trade between the two countries,” added Mattioli.

She deemed the future of trade relations between Iran and Italy as very bright; “Italy is ready to boost ties in various fields including oil and gas, auto mechanics, building materials, renewable energy as well as medical equipment,” stressed the official.

Mattioli reiterated that from March 2014 to March 2015 co-production of cars, buses and trucks was discussed and Italy’s strategic plan for the future is to produce 2 million Iranian-Italian vehicles.

The Italian official further asserted that “we are making efforts to reach an appropriate agreement with Iran in the field of small companies and to take up more banking and industrial activities in time with the reduction of sanctions.”

She deemed banking relationships as a strategic element for the resumption of relations between the two countries; “in addition to the increase in commercial exchanges, we are seeking to expand collaborations in small, medium and large areas,” Mattioli explained.

The official further added that, “Italy can take serious steps to modernize Iran’s oil industry while companies like Daniel have recently invested 520 million dollars in the Iranian city of Yazd.”

At the end of her remarks, she expressed hope that they can provide a favorable situation for Iran and Italy within five years.
