Ali Sadiqi, the Head of Football Federation’s Protocols Department told reporters on Saturday that women’s national squad had embarked on its long journey to Guatemala on early hours of Saturday and would predictably arrive in the country after three days. The rather long journey is due to the fact at Guatemala has no embassy in Tehran; so, the national squad had to journey to Mexico to receive the Central American small nation’s visa, Sadiqi was quoted as saying.
“The 48-hour stay in Mexico will make the journey cumbersome, and national squad will have to stay in Mexico City until the arrangements for visa complete; Iran’s embassy staff will cooperate to arrange for visa from Guatemala, where we appreciate the Foreign Ministry’s good offices for receiving visa for Germany and Mexico,” he told reporters.
He also expressed gratitude for efforts on Europe and North America General Directorate and Iran’s ambassador to Mexico, “whose good offices made possible women’s futsal national squad to attend the Lesser World Cup.”
From Asia, both champion Iran, and second champion Japan will participate in the Guatemala 2015 Futsal World Cup.
