Syrian army establishes control over strategic hills in Lattakia

LATTAKIA, Nov. 16 (MNA) – Army units, in cooperation with the popular defense groups, established control over a number of strategic hills in Rweiset Eskandar, Height 1149 and Height 1143 and Beit Abu Risha village and Kitf al-Saour in the northeastern countryside of Lattakia province, a military source announced.

The achievements in those areas were the result of special and intensive operations to deal with the mountainous and wooded areas in that part of Lattakia countryside, the source noted.

A number of terrorists were killed, 3 vehicles equipped with machineguns were destroyed and many weapons and munitions were seized, the source confirmed.

After establishing control over those areas, the army units combed them and found a number of explosive devices planted by the terrorists to prevent the army’s advance.

The explosive devices were dismantled and fleeing terrorists were hunted down.

In related news, Syrian Air Force carried out sorties targeting hideouts of ISIS terrorists in al-Qalamoun area in Damascus Countryside, destroying a number of hideouts, fortified sites, and vehicles.
