Cinéma Vérité unveils 2015 lineup

TEHRAN, Nov. 15 (MNA) – The 9th edition of the Iranian international festival for documentary films Cinéma Vérité has released the year's film lineup.

27 documentaries from 25 countries will vie in the event’s international competition section in categories including short, medium-length and full-length documentaries.

The works which will compete in the short documentaries section include; Beyond the Hills (directed by Elvin Adigozel and Ramil Adiloglu- Azerbaijan), The Shepherd’s Song (directed by Vahram Mkhitaryan- Armenia and Poland), Tyndall (directed by Fatima Bianch-Italy), Kacey Mottet Klein, Birth of an Actor (directed by Urshla Meie Urshla Meier- Switzerland), Keeping Balance (directed by Bernhard Wenger- Austria), Os Evadidos (directed by Munseok Kim- Portugal), A Tale of Love, Madness and Death (directed by Mijael Bustos Guitierrez-Chile), Starting Point (directed by Michal Szczesniak-Poland), Mother (directed by Maria Grazia Goya- Hungary), Super Unit (directed by Teresa Czepiec-Poland), This is the Place (Daugava Delta) (directed by Rainer Komers- Germany) and One Million Steps (directed by Eva Stotz- Germany and Turkey).

Ella Maillart -Double Journey (directed by Mariann Lewinsky and Antonio Bigini, Switzerland and Italy), The Chechen Family (directed by Martín Solá- Argentina), Allan, a Man at the Age of Christ (directed by Arko Okk- Estonia), Casa Blanca (directed by Aleksandra Maciuszek, Mexico-Poland), Giano (directed by Francesco Dongiovanni, Italy), Kabul Cinema (directed by Louis Meunier- France and Afghanistan), End of the World(directed by Monika Pawluczuk-Poland), and Sunakali (directed by Bhojraj Bhat-Nepal) will vie in the medium-length part.

Surire (directed by Ivan Osnovikoff-Chile and Germany), 16 Years Till Summer (directed by Lou McLoughlan- Scotland and Iceland), My Love, Don't Cross That River (directed by Jin Moyoung- South Korea), Pixadores (directed by Amir Arsames Escandari, Finland, Denmark and Sweden), I Am Belfast (directed by Mark Cousins- UK), Not All is Vigil (directed by Hermes Paralluelo- Spain) and Something Better to Come (directed by Hanna Polak-Denmark and Poland) will attend the event’s full-length documentaries section.

Iran’s 9th Cinéma Vérité is slated for 13-19 Dec. 2015 in Tehran’s Palestine and Sepideh cinemas.

Organized by Iran’s Documentary and Experimental Film Center (DEFC), the annual festival tries to express the relationship between reality and truth though documentary films.
