Iranians Commemorate Journalist’s Day in Kuwait

TEHRAN, August 8 (Mehr News Agency) – Iranian youth residing in Kuwait held a ceremony commemorating “Journalist’s Day” (August 8) in the office of the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) in Kuwait.

Head of Misaq Cultural Institute, one of the participants in the ceremony, stated that the occasion is the day to respect name and memory of IRNA journalist Mahmoud Saremi martyred in Mazar-i-Sharif in 1998.

“It is also a good chance to honor the untiring endeavors of all journalists who do their best in developing culture of their Iranian Islamic country," said Abbas Amiri. Several plaques of honor were presented to the IRNA staff in Kuwait.

Misaq is a cultural institute sponsored by Iranians residing in Kuwait who promote art, culture and sports of Iranian youth residing in the country.

Mahmoud Saremi and eight Iranian diplomats were martyred in Mazar-i-Sharif, northern Afghanistan, when the Taleban attacked the building housing the Iranian Embassy.
