‘Elegy’ vying in Beijing

TEHRAN, Oct. 20 (MNA) – Yousef Kargar’s Elegy is attending the 14th Beijing Film Academy's International Student Film and Video Festival (ISFVF).

Elegy, as a representative of Iran, will attend the festival’s competition section competing with works of 34 other countries including China, the US, Australia, France, Germany, Russia, Brazil, the Netherlands and South Africa.

The Iranian film, produced by the Orumieh office of Iranian Youth Cinema Society, narrates the story of an old man who has been waiting for the return of his missing son for 25 years.

The 14th International Student Film and Video Festival, October 18-25, is held in Beijing Film Academy (BFA).

School representatives and student filmmakers from all over the world gather in ISFVF for a week of program and forum with faculty from BFA.

According to its website, the 14th ISFVF consists of two parts: International Student Film Competition and Chinese Student Film Competition.

The International part will screen all entry films (including Chinese students’ films)and set up the International Short Film Award; the Chinese part will screen Chinese students’ films only (including Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan)and set up the Chinese Short Film Award.

The festival is held to provide an occasion for the students and teaching faculty of BFA and of other Film and TV schools in the world to appreciate works of students from all over the world, strengthen personal and professional exchanges between film and TV schools around the world, encourage and support the future film and television professionals and advocate personality, art exploration, technical innovation and self-expression.

It is held in four categories namely fiction, documentary, animation and others.
