TEHRAN, Oct. 17 (MNA) – Iran’s Deputy FM Abbas Araghchi said the European Union will lift sanctions against Iran tomorrow, as announced by Deputy EU Foreign Policy Chief Helga Schmid during MSC meeting in Tehran.

“In today’s meeting of Munich Security Conference, Deputy EU Foreign Policy Chief Helga Schmid noted that the European Union will lift its sanctions against Iran on Sunday and will announce a decree to officially end anti-Iranian economic and financial sanctions,” said deputy Foreign Minister Araghchi on the sidelines of the MSC meeting in Tehran.

He added that Iran would begin endorsing its commitments once it is ensured the sanctions have been lifted.

“Ms. Schmid also stressed that Iran’s missile tests has nothing to do with the JCPOA and must be discussed within its own related field,” said Araghchi.

In response to a question on John Kerry’s recent remarks about the reversibility of sanctions against Iran, Araghchi stressed that such reversibility is true for both sides; “if the other side does not comply with its commitments, Iran too will step back from its commitments,” he said.

Araghchi also described Kerry’s remarks on the perpetual inspection of Iran’s nuclear activities as merely a ‘wordplay.’

The preliminary meeting of Munich Security Summit hosted by the Iranian Foreign Ministry's Institute for International and Political Studies (IIPS) opened in Tehran on Saturday with the presence of 18 foreign ministers from Europe and 60 high-ranking officials from other nations.

The core of the meeting evolves around the implementation of the JCPOA, Iran's regional role, security architecture in the Middle East as well as the economic and energy policy implications of the Vienna agreement.
