Iran has powerfully moved toward independence

TEHRAN, Oct. 18 (MNA) – Ali Shamkhani says despite the ups and downs in the implementation of the fixed principles of Iran’s foreign policy in years following the victory of the Islamic Revolution, the country powerfully moved toward independence, freedom and promoting its stance in national, regional and international fields.

Secretary of Supreme National Security Council made the remarks addressing the closing ceremony of the Munich Security Conference (MSC) in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on Saturday.

During his speech he talked about factors which are mostly affecting regional and international security explaining that the West Asia region is affected by the Israeli regime’s suppression of the Palestinians, the spread of terrorism in Syria and Iraq, and Saudi Arabia’s campaign against Yemen.

The cooperation between Iran, Iraq, Russia and Syria in countering terrorism is a clear example of the real fight against terrorism, he said and added “the latest achievements is a criterion for the failure of so-called US-led coalition against ISIL.”

Talking about the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), he said: “following the post sanction era, Iran tends to develop constructive interaction with the region and the world.”

He also added that the US seeks to create division among the countries in the region and said: “creating and developing grounds for destructive rivalry based on balance of power among regional countries is the most important objective the US pursues.”

He also noted that Middle East countries need stability and security to step toward development.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the conference, he hoped the fabricated file of Past Military Dimension (PMD) will be closed through Iran's cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

“The matter will be significant since it will be a door toward Iran’s next steps and will reveal the level of honesty in solving problems which were unfairly created by others”, he added.

“The officials responsible for the implementation of JCPOA are fully aware that the step by step process should be taken skillfully and smartly without trusting the other party, so the trust which was vanished abnormally will be proved with their actions”, Shamkhani said.

Asking him about US’s claim to take Iran's recent ballistic missile test to the UN Security Council, he said the Iran never accepted the 2292 resolution and will never compromise its defensive power.”
