Iranian parliament ratified the general outline of a single-urgency bill on JCPOA here on Sunday. Talking as a representative of the government in supporting the plan, Ali Akbar Salehi said “The negotiations were based on logic, scientific concepts and scrutiny.”
“Arak’s current reactor uses eight kilos of plutonium which is a total of 240 kilos in 30 years. Some believe that heavy water should not be exported since it is used in fusion reactors; Iran currently produces 20 tons of heavy water.” he said.
He noted that the nuclear issues will not stop and the production of heavy water, nuclear enrichment and researchers will continue.
Salehi underlined that the US tried to halt heavy water, enrichments and Fordow Fuel Enrichment Plant, all of which continued by the grace of God.
The head of Iran's Atomic Energy Organization added “we fulfilled our will. The negotiations should have been made in a way in which the dignity of the Iranian nation and the nuclear industry were preserved. The talks were indeed made with honor.”
“I hereby admit that, in the talks, Iran had the upper hand and only accepted limitations on making nuclear bombs; which we were not after in line with the Leader’s fatwa”, he added.
Salehi noted that enrichment and researching will continue and Iran will sell enriched uranium and heavy water.
He also added that the role of the leader toke Iran to the peak of honor.
The Iranian official concluded saying that that Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is a document of honor which preserves national sovereignty and interests.
