UN concerned over rising violence in West Bank, Jerusalem

UNITED NATIONS, Oct. 07 (MNA) – UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon expressed his concern over the escalation of deadly incidents in the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem on Tuesday.

In a statement, the diplomat condemned recent violence that claimed the life of a 13-year-old Palestinian boy who was killed by Israeli troops.

Ban called on Tel Aviv to transparently investigate this and other occupants' actions, which resulted in hundreds wounded in the West Bank, considering during the investigation the possible disproportionate use of force.

According to the Secretary General, the violence is potentially spiraling out of control, so he called on the parties to work to stop hostilities and move towards a two-state solution.

On Sunday, Ban also denounced the death of members of an Israeli family.

Palestinian ambassador to the UN, Riyad Mansour, announced on Monday to have sent a letter to the Security Council, the Secretary-General and the President of the General Assembly calling for protection for the Arab people.
